Psoriasis Awareness Month – August 2024

August is the time to highlight the latest advances in understanding and treating psoriasis, a chronic skin condition that speeds up the growth of skin cells, leading to thick, red, scaly patches. This debilitating disease affects nearly 125 million people globally, including 8 million Americans, significantly impacting their quality of life and presenting considerable management challenges.
At GlintLab, we support scientists and researchers in the early discovery and preclinical stages by offering advanced histopathology services to enhance the understanding and treatment of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
Recent research has introduced new treatment options, including biologic drugs, JAK inhibitors, gene therapy, and novel topical treatments. The National Psoriasis Foundation, Mayo Clinic, and Cleveland Clinic provide support and information to patients and are good resources for everyone to learn more about this debilitating condition. The good news is that more than 250 pharmaceutical companies and research organizations have been working on finding better solutions and new treatments for Psoriasis, with about 70 of them having at least one on-going clinical trial such as UCB, Abbvie, Bausch Health Americas, Sun Pharma, Janssen, BI, and BMS to name a few. For a comprehensive list of clinical trials, feel free to download the data we collected from the National Library of Medicine.
At GlintLab, we can help with Psoriasis research by leveraging our innovative research services:
- Assay Optimization: Enhance sensitivity and specificity for key psoriasis biomarkers like CD3, CD4, CD8, Ki-67, TNF-α, IL-17, IL-22, and CD11c.
- RNA ISH: Detect and quantify gene expression in skin tissues.
- Dual ISH-IHC: Combine RNA and protein analysis for comprehensive insights.
- Skin Layer Analysis and Segmentation: Quantifying biomarker expression within different skin layers.
- Spatial Data Analysis: Explore spatial relationships and cell interactions in psoriatic lesions.
- Data Interpretation and Reporting: Comprehensive data interpretation, including statistical analysis and visual data representation.
